Friday Night Kickoff · August 21

Two rounds, flighted, gross and net within flights. JMC and JLC members only. Everything you need for the weekend is on this page — schedule, format, side pots, and scoring.

Playing this weekend? Read the 2026 Notice to Competitors → for the full local rules.

Registration Closed · Field Is Set

Entries closed Wednesday, August 19 at noon. No late adds.

Flight and tee-time assignments are released at the Friday Night Kickoff — not before.

New This Year · Tee Times, Not Shotgun

The field is too big for a shotgun. We are playing tee times both days, starting at 7:00 am.

Know your tee time and be on the tee. Saturday's last group goes off around 2:00 pm.

Format, Flights & Tees

  • 36 holes, flighted. 18-hole first round Saturday, 18-hole final round Sunday. Paying gross and net within flights.
  • Flights are set by handicap as of the Wednesday, August 19 morning revision.
  • Saturday flight order: Men's 1st flight, Ladies' 1st flight, Men's 2nd–5th flights, Ladies' 2nd–3rd flights, then Men's 6th–8th flights. Sunday reverses it, with the leaders last.
  • Tees: men play the white tees and ladies the red tees, unless gold- or blue-tee eligibility has been established this season. Confirm your tee on your scorecard.
  • Handicap: net payouts within flights use 100% course handicap.
  • Men's payouts: 4 gross and 4 net per flight.
One-Day Division

Members who could only play one day are scored in a separate division. Not eligible for the flight prize pool, but still eligible for skins and deuces.

Side Games & Optional Pools

Skins $20 for the weekend. Pay Friday at the Kickoff or Saturday at check-in.
Deuces $20 for the weekend. The pot starts fat — $160 is added each day from two Thursday night rollovers.
Senior Championship $10 opt-in, men 55+. Scored separately from the flights, paying low gross and low net. The Senior Club Champion is recognized alongside the overall champion. Payment collected at check-in.
Parimutuel Friday night only. Pick the gross flight winners.

Hole-in-One

There is no hole-in-one insurance this year — the cost has climbed past what makes sense for us. Here is what is on the table instead.

What's Still on the Line

JMC Hole-in-One Club — $4,800 for members who have joined the pool.

JMC is directly sponsoring an additional $1,000 per hole-in-one for the entire men's and women's fields, all weekend.

Let's get one (or more) this weekend.

Rules & Local Rules

Current USGA Rules of Golf govern all play except as modified by the local rules in the Notice to Competitors. When in doubt, play a second ball under Rule 20.1c(3) and report to a rules official before signing your card.

Rules officials: Blake Isakson (602-321-4391) and Joe Jenson (307-760-9117).

Read Before You Play

The full local rules for the weekend — tees, out of bounds, penalty areas, animal holes, lift-clean-and-place, provisionals, and cart return — are in the Notice to Competitors.

2026 Notice to Competitors →

The few that come up most often:

  • Tees — men play the white tees unless they have established gold-tee eligibility; ladies play the red tees unless they have established blue-tee eligibility. Confirm your tee on your scorecard.
  • Lift, clean, and place is in effect in the general area cut to fairway height or less — within one scorecard length, no nearer the hole.
  • All putts must finish in the hole. No gimmies.
  • Return your cart immediately after your round so it can be turned around for later tee times.

Pace of Play

With tee times both days, pace matters more than usual. A player or group out of position will be warned and put on the clock, and penalties may be issued after one warning.

  • Ready golf is allowed in stroke play.
  • 40 seconds maximum per shot.
  • Figure out your club and yardage while others are playing, not when it's your turn.
  • 3 minutes maximum to search for a lost ball, starting when you reach the area. Groups self-police — don't take offense when someone calls time.
  • If a slow player is holding up your group, you may ask to have the group monitored.
Suspension of Play

One long horn — stop play immediately. Three long horns — play resumes.

Scoring

Each group must designate one player to enter scores in the GolfGenius app. Your group's GGID is provided before the round. Keep your group's scores on a paper scorecard in tee-sheet order and enter them in the app every hole or two.

Check Your Card Before You Walk Away!

Go directly to the scoring area after your round with a signed card and drop it in the receptacle. Once your card is in and you leave the scoring area, the score is final.
